Harder Kulm, Switzerland

Harder Kulm is the highest point in Interlaken, Switzerland. It also has a panoramic restaurant me and my family tried out.

A sign you can take pictures with by the restaurant and other platforms you can walk on.
Had to take a Coca Cola, Top of Interlaken picture. The Cola in Europe tastes slightly different because they don’t allow the same amount of sugar into soft drinks as the U.S. does.
My whole family each had a plate of chicken nuggets and fries. They were hot and tasted very fresh, the fries were amazing, and I don’t say that about a lot of fries, they tend to get cold very quickly.
And of course, we had to get a pot of cheese fondue!
With the cheese fondue we were given pieces of warm bread and two potatoes to dip into the warm gooey cheese mixture. I believe it was beer cheese, it was delicious. Of course we also dipped a piece or two of our chicken nuggets in the cheese too.

The staff was somewhat friendly, we had two different waitresses, the first one was not super friendly honestly she was a bit judgmental of what we were ordering. The second however was very nice and a lovely person.

There are many, many places to take pictures and create a very memorable experience. They do group tours, civil weddings, seminars, family celebrations and parties and congresses! Their website is jungfrau.ch/harderklum if you’d like to check them out.

Overall, I give it a 10/10. From the food to the views it’s a travel and food lovers dream! I highly recommend going if you get the chance!

Stadthaus in Switzerland

Stadthaus in located in Interlaken, Switzerland. Which is actually where the idea for Alyssa Eats Europe was born!

I’m going back in time, to November of 2021 to catch up on what I missed posting.

This is the outside of the building.
There is outside seating however, we sat inside because it was a bit too chilly to just sit outside.
I had this. I can’t find the menu online to tell you exactly what it was called, however I can tell you what I remember was in it. There was a hash brown patty layer on the very bottom, topped with mozzarella cheese slices, bacon, and an egg. It was amazing, I couldn’t stop raving about how good it was which is when my mom suggested I start a food blog and here we are!

I also had a Coca Cola to drink and it came in those super fancy glass bottles (no pictures sadly) and it was bottled in Switzerland and I actually still have it as a souvenir!

The staff was fairly friendly, the food was amazing. And the atmosphere was nice too, it was pretty dimly lit, perfect date night spot. It has some interesting history as the restaurant used to actually be a town hall, but started as a Inn for cattle drivers in the 15th century.

Overall, I’d give it a 8/10. That’s all for now, til next time. -Alyssa

Deer Mama

Deer Mama is located in Amsterdam, and it’s a VEGAN restaurant! Which of you don’t know I am a vegetarian now so any vegetarian or vegan restaurant is a must try atleast. And the whole restaurant is so aesthetically pleasing.

First things first, everyone but my mom got a milkshake. Mine was strawberry and it was so good! Nice and thick but I could still get it up my straw.
My mom got this Rose Lemonade and I got to try it and it was heavenly! It is so much better than strawberry lemonade, the sad part is we can’t find it anywhere in Germany but it’s manufactured here! How funny is that?
These were an appetizer, Mushroom Mini Croquettes served with Pink Mustard.
I personally didn’t think they were terrible but they weren’t overly really good either. If I got to go here again I probably wouldn’t order them, but not because they weren’t good, just weren’t my favorite.
These were also technically an appetizer but I ordered it for dinner. This is a BBQ Nacho Bucket, it has minced ‘meat’, black beans, sweet corn, tomato salsa, jalapeños, guacamole and extra cheesy cheese sauce (which is what I’m pouring). I didn’t end up finishing it all, as it was quite a bit of food however it was extremely delicious!
This is the Nacho Burger, beef style burger served with nacho chips, guacamole, tomato salsa, jalapeños (not pictured as my dad omitted those), corn, chipotle mayonnaise, and extra cheesy cheese sauce. According to my dad it was very good and he finished it all so it must have been pretty delicious.
This is the Crispy Fried Chicken Burger. Crispy Chicken style burger with avocado, bacon bits and mustard mayonnaise. My mom got this and she said it was good but the chicken had a salmon fish like feel when eating it, so she would probably not order this again.
I believe this was the Lil’ Millionaire Sliders, it is Beef style mini burgers with truffle flavored mayonnaise and Parmesan style cheese. My sister finished this which is a big deal, a lot of times burgers can be a bit much for her, so that means it is quite delicious!
This I can not find on their menu anymore. It is a hot dog style item. My brother was not a fan of this, and I did try a bit and I can agree it’s not the best thing I’ve ever had. It had a bit of kick to it and just wasn’t that good to be quite honest.

The staff was very nice and very attentive. Now I mentioned earlier the aesthetic was quite pleasing so I figured I could share a few pics me and my mom took of the place.

This was a mirror over by the bathrooms. It says “You are appreciated”

Overall the place gets a 10/10. From staff to food to the aesthetically pleasing atmosphere, it’s a great place to stop and grab a bite if you get the chance!

Bocca, Pizza Napoletana

Bocca is located in Dortmund, Germany. It’s right on the water which means it can slightly chilly when the wind picks up. It can also be a bit windy, me and my family sat outside however you can sit inside if you’d prefer.

This is Ravioloni Gorgonzola E Noci. It has a walnuts sauce. The raviolis are filled with walnuts and ricotta cheese. My dad got this and let me try it and it was delicious!
This is a margarita pizza, it has this crispy dough edge, however it is super thin in the middle which means when cutting the pizza it is a little difficult to keep the shape. It’s marvelous though, my siblings and my mom had this.
This is called “The Grinch”. And it’s heavenly! I have switched to being a vegetarian, so this is what I had. It did have a Italian sausage but I picked it off. This had a broccoli and spinach sauce, mozzarella cheese and the dough was fantastic!

This was all we had at Bocca, it was a 5 minute walk from the hotel we were staying at, and the view while we were eating was perfect!

These were taken a bit after we finished eating and we started walking around

The staff was incredibly friendly and spoke English very well (which is always a plus when you still can’t speak German very well 🙈)

10/10 recommend going here if you get the chance! – Alyssa

Ramsteiner Hausbrau

The first place I want to highlight on my blog is the wonderful, little German Restaurant on Ramstein Air Base, Ramsteiner Hausbrau, for all my military friends. They have a wide selection of different Bavarian dishes, these are only the few that I’ve had so far.

But before I get into the food, I like to do a little research and find out more about the place itself. Ramsteiner identifies as a women owned business, they are LGBTQIA+ friendly, have a wheelchair accessible entrance, are great for kids and larger groups, and they also offer free WI-FI.

As a side note, all I ate was meat, however if your a vegetarian, don’t worry they have vegan options as well!

Curry wurst and Mashed Potatoes

Curry wurst is a bratwurst cooked and covered in Curry, and let me tell you it is delicious! I’m not normally a curry fan, as it can be quite spicy, this however is not overly spicy. It has a kick, but it’s rather muted and the mashed potatoes are super soft and buttery, and the curry mixed with the mashed potatoes is *chefs kiss* Big, big fan of this, and 10/10 recommend trying it.

Knodel

Knodel or Kloße are large, round poached or boiled potato or bread dumplings, made without yeast. These were potato dumplings, covered in a turkey and bacon sauce. They were in my opinion pretty good with the sauce, without they tasted rather plain. My personal score, 6/10.

Weinerschnitzel and Fries

So the first time I had heard of Weinerschnitzel, I had a friend describe it as like a giant chicken nugget and honestly I kinda agree, lol! It’s like a giant chicken nugget but only better! So Weinerschnitzel is made of veal, covered in breadcrumbs and served with lemon juice, hence the lemon wedge. It can have a mushroom sauce as well, but I’m not as big a fan of that option. My personal score- 9/10

Bratwurst, mashed potatoes and sauerkraut

The bratwurst had a nice juicy snap when you bit into it, the mashed potatoes were buttery and melted in your mouth, and when you ate it all together it was like heaven in your mouth! Now I do wanna add that, while this is good, I personally prefer when my mom makes bratwurst and sauerkraut, but this is still good. My final score- 9/10

Weisswurst

Weisswurst is a traditional Bavarian sausage made of minced veal, and pork back bacon. It is seasoned with lemon, parsley, onions, mace, ginger and cardamom. This was gross honestly, it had a super weird texture and was cold. And was floating in water with chives thrown in it and tasted rather odd but plain, very weird combination. I personally do not recommend getting this. Oh and the pretzel was fairly good, had a very hard crust but soft on the inside.

If your looking to try out Ramstiener Hausbrau, they are located in the KMCC Exchange on Ramstein Air Base, they do reservations if you’d like to call ahead! Or if you don’t like dining out they have take-out as well, and are open Mon.-Sun. From 10AM-10PM, make sure to check their hours around holidays, since they may change.

Well that’s all for now, I’ll talk to y’all soon! -Alyssa
